The Huron County Engineer seeks comments on a Bridge Replacement Project (HUR CR 065 – 02.11) PID 119355 on Peru West Section Road over the Huron River in Peru Township.
The Huron County Engineer’s Office is planning on replacing a bridge on Peru West Section Line Road over the Huron River west of Hettle Road. The single span through truss bridge was built in 1954 and is in poor condition with weight restrictions. The proposed replacement will consist of prestressed concrete box beam superstructure on capped pile concrete abutments.
The proposed project is located within a Special Flood Hazard Area of the Huron River. Best management practices for sediment and erosion control will be used throughout construction to ensure that impacts to the floodplain are minimized. A No-Rise Certification will be made by a Registered Professional Engineer.
Construction is currently scheduled to begin in spring of 2026 at an estimated construction cost of $2,200,000 with work lasting approximately 150 days.
Written comments concerning the proposed project may be mailed to Huron County Engineer’s Office, ATTN: Lee Tansey, 150 Jefferson Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
You may also contact Lee by phone (419) 668-1997 or by email ltansey@huroncountyengineer.org. Any comments must be received by March 29, 2024.
